Connect Canvas once. Then stop thinking about it.
The setup is an extension install and one click inside Canvas. Nothing else to configure.
Four steps, in order.
Install the extension
Scholarwire for Canvas is a Chrome extension. It installs with access to no websites. The permission list is empty, so installing it grants nothing.
It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc. Safari and Firefox are not supported, because the permission model this relies on is a Chrome one.
Point it at your Canvas
Open Canvas, sign in as usual, then click Use this site in the extension popup. Access is granted to that one address.
No password to give the extension, no developer key to request, no form for your school to approve. The extension reuses the session cookie your browser already holds.
The first sync runs
One pass reads your active courses and, for each one, the assignments with their due dates and submission state, calendar events including class meetings and exams, announcements, modules and the file list.
Scholarwire writes it to this browser's local storage. It takes a few seconds.
It keeps itself current
Later syncs update what changed and remove what disappeared from Canvas. Anything you added yourself, notes, decks, a block you moved, survives untouched.
If a sync fails, the app carries on with what it already has and tells you when the last good sync was.
A semester you did not have to type in.
Everything below comes from the first sync.
It schedules the work, not just the deadline.
You set the hours you are free on each weekday, how long a study block should be, how long a break should be, a daily maximum and how many days before a due date to start. It estimates the work per assignment, splits it into study blocks and places them in your free hours, earliest deadline first.
When it cannot fit
It says so and names what did not fit. It will not drop work silently.
When plans change
Move a block and it stays where you put it. Turn on auto-plan and the rest reshuffles after every sync around what is new, moved or already submitted.

Scholarwire stores your Canvas data, notes and study history on your device. Every account signs in once, and an encrypted copy then syncs between your devices with a key kept with your account. Keeping that key means we could open that copy. Nobody here does.
Local data is unencrypted, like any website's. Anyone who can use this computer account can read it, so use a personal profile and disk encryption on a shared machine.
One Canvas instance per browser profile. Switching schools resets the Canvas-derived data, and your local notes survive with their course link cleared.
Delete all local data clears both copies, the browser one and the extension one. An export contains everything, including grades.
