Canvas holds every due date in your semester and shows them badly. Get them into the calendar you use, into Google Calendar, and into a study plan instead of a list of deadlines.
Why the Canvas feed is not enough.
Canvas does publish a calendar feed. Most students who try it hit the same three problems. It carries assignment titles with no course context in some clients, so your week reads as a wall of items called Discussion 4. It refreshes on the calendar provider's schedule, which for Google Calendar can be many hours behind. And it is only deadlines: it tells you a paper is due Friday, not that you should have started it on Tuesday.
Scholarwire reads the same information through the Canvas API rather than the feed, so it gets the submission state too. Work you have already turned in stops appearing. The calendar lives in the app, with an .ics export you control and an optional subscription link for external calendars.

Getting Canvas assignments into Google Calendar.
Three ways, each good for something different.
One event at a time
Every assignment and event carries an Add to Google Calendar link that opens Google Calendar's event form with the title, course, date and time filled in. Useful for the handful of things you want reminders on.
Import the file once
Export the .ics and use Google Calendar's Settings, then Import and export, then Import. This copies the events in as normal Google events you can edit. It is a snapshot: it does not update when Canvas changes.
Subscribe to the link
Turn on calendar sync in Settings, copy the private URL, and in Google Calendar use Other calendars, then From URL. The semester arrives as its own calendar you can toggle, and it stays current. The same link works in Apple Calendar under New calendar subscription and in Outlook under Add calendar, then Subscribe from web.
This is the one feature that puts data on a server, because a calendar provider has to be able to fetch it. It carries titles, dates, times, course names and locations for the layers you ticked, and nothing else. No grades, no notes, no submissions.
Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own schedule, often hours behind. No app can change that, so the in-app calendar is the current one.
A deadline is not a plan.
Canvas can tell you that a problem set is due Tuesday at 11:59 pm. It cannot tell you to spend fifty minutes on it Sunday afternoon, because it does not know when you have class, when you work, or when you sleep.
Scholarwire asks for that once: the hours you are free on each weekday, how long a study block should run, how long a break between blocks should be, a daily maximum so it cannot book you for six hours, and how many days before a due date to start. Then it takes everything still due, estimates the work, splits it into study blocks and places them in your free hours, nearest deadline first. Those blocks land on the same calendar as the deadlines.
If a week does not fit, it names what it could not place. Submitted work disappears from the plan without you ticking anything, because Canvas already knows.
