What you agree to.
Use Scholarwire with your own Canvas account, for your own coursework. Do not use it to read someone else's account, and do not use it to break your school's rules on academic integrity.
The AI features are a tutor and a quizzer. They will not write essays or complete graded work, and that refusal is built in. Submitting AI-generated work as your own is between you and your institution.
Your school's rules still apply.
Scholarwire for Canvas reads Canvas with the session you are already signed into, the same way the page in front of you does. You are responsible for your own account and for following your school's acceptable use policy.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Instructure, the company that makes Canvas, or with any school. Canvas is their trademark and is used here only to say what the product works with.
It is yours, on your device and in your account.
Your notes, decks, quizzes and everything derived from your coursework belong to you. We claim no licence over them and we do not use them to train anything.
They live on your device, and an encrypted copy syncs to your account so your other devices can open the same semester. We hold the key to that copy, which is what makes a new device work. Nobody here reads it, and what we store is encrypted. The privacy page sets out what that means.
Recovery depends on which copy survives. While your account exists, signing in on a new device restores the synced copy. Deleting your account deletes that copy and its key, and clearing a device's browser storage clears that device, so if you have done both, the data is gone and we cannot restore it. Export before you delete anything you would miss.
Pro is $4.99 a month or $44 a year.
Pro adds a larger monthly allowance of AI credits and the calendar subscription feed. It renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves you on the free plan at the end of the period you already paid for.
AI comes as a monthly allowance of credits rather than being unlimited, because each one costs us money. When the credits run out, the rest of the app keeps working and the allowance refreshes at the start of the next period. Prices can change, and if they do, a change takes effect at your next renewal and we tell you before it does.
What we promise, and what we do not.
The app is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be free of bugs, that Canvas will always be reachable, or that a sync will always succeed. Because your data is local, the app keeps working with what it already has even when our servers do not.
We may change or remove features. We will not move the free features, Canvas sync, the calendar, the planner, notes, flashcards and quizzes, behind a paid plan.
The limit.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a missed deadline, a lower grade or lost data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months, which for most people is nothing.
This is not a substitute for checking Canvas. Treat the app as a better view of your semester, not as the official record of it.
Either side can stop.
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling the extension and deleting your local data. If you have an account, you can delete it, which removes the identity and subscription record we hold.
We can suspend an account that is being used to abuse the service, for example by attacking the AI features or trying to reach another person's data.
If these terms change.
We will post the updated terms on this page with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects a paying subscriber, it takes effect at the next renewal rather than immediately.
