You set the hours
Seven weekday rows with a start and an end, a block length, a break length, a daily maximum and how many days ahead to start. The planner works inside that and tells you when something could not fit.
It re-plans itself
Turn on auto-plan and every sync rebuilds the upcoming blocks around what changed: a new assignment, a moved due date, something you already turned in.

Export a standard .ics file, or turn on a private subscription feed that Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook read. Turning it off deletes the file.

An editor, one note per lecture, linked to the course and the assignment it came from. Decks come from those notes and your course files, or you type them by hand, and reviews are scheduled with FSRS, the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler that Anki now uses by default.

Quizzes, then a score
Multiple choice, short answer and true or false, marked with an explanation for the ones you got wrong. Attempts are kept so you can see whether the second pass was better.

Cards due are part of what the planner schedules, so review is a block on the calendar.
Grading a card schedules it with FSRS, the scheduler Anki uses by default. Again brings it back in ten minutes. Easy pushes it out days.

Is this safe to use with my school account?
Scholarwire for Canvas reads Canvas the same way your browser tab does, using the session you are already signed into. It never asks for your password, it uses no developer key, and it needs no approval from your school.
Nothing is granted at install. The extension starts with access to no sites, and you grant it your school's Canvas address from the popup.
Does my school see that I am using it?
No. The requests look like ordinary page loads from your browser, which Canvas logs the same way it logs you opening the assignments page. There is no integration for an administrator to approve, review or revoke, and nothing is installed on the school's side.
What leaves my device?
Scholarwire stores your Canvas data, notes and study history on your device, and, encrypted, in your account, so every device you sign in on has the same semester. We hold the key that opens that copy. Nobody here reads it.
Two more things can leave, and both are things you start. When you use an AI feature, only the text or PDF you chose is sent to the model, and nothing is sent automatically. When you turn on calendar sync, only calendar fields go to a private link: titles, dates, times, course names and locations, for the layers you ticked. Turning it off deletes them.
Does it work with my school's Canvas?
If your school runs Canvas and you can sign in to it in Chrome, it works. That covers hosted instances at canvas.yourschool.edu, instructure.com subdomains and self-hosted installs.
It does not work with Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace or Google Classroom.
What happens if Canvas changes?
The extension reads Canvas's public REST API, the same one the Canvas mobile apps use, rather than scraping the page. That API is versioned and stable, so a redesign of the Canvas interface does not break the sync.
Your semester is stored locally after each sync, so even if a sync fails the app keeps working with what it already has, and tells you when it last succeeded.
What does it cost?
Canvas sync, the calendar, the planner, notes, flashcards and quizzes are free and stay free. Pro is $4.99 a month or $44 a year, which is $3.67 a month, and it adds background sync every 30 minutes, every course on your calendar feed, and 250 AI credits a month instead of 3.
Connecting Canvas starts 14 days of Pro with no card, so nothing is charged unless you decide to subscribe afterwards.
What happens when my 14 days end?
You drop to the free plan on your own, with no card ever charged: 3 AI credits a month, a daily background sync, and 2 courses of your choice on the calendar feed and the .ics export.
Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked. Your courses, notes, decks, quizzes and study plan are still there.
Can I export my data?
Yes, and there is no paid tier gating it. Export all data writes one file with everything: courses, assignments, notes, decks, quiz history and grades. Your calendar exports as a standard .ics file that any calendar app reads.
You can also delete everything from Settings, which clears the browser copy, the extension copy and, with Delete my synced data, the encrypted copy in your account.
Set it up once, at the start of the semester.
After that the app knows what is due, when you are free and what you have not reviewed.
